-notes Thomas lost his left eye when he was 3 years old while playing with Tannic Acid with his younger brother; his brother accidentally spilled the acid on him.  Thomas moved to Washington Court House, Fayette Co, Ohio from New Jersey to start a family with his wife Mariah, and after she died in 1839 he married 2nd wife Nancy and moved his family to Marion co, Indiana Township,  Iowa.  there he tanned animal hides into leather as his occupation. They lived there until he visited his daughter Lydia in Fayette co, Ohio and was struck with Cholera an acute diarrheal disease and died there on August 16, 1866. The family buried him in Staunton Methodist Church Cemetery in Staunton, Fayette co, Ohio.

Inscription: THOS. KENNEDY DIED  Aug. 16, 1866 Aged 65 years 4 months, 1 day Oh! how sweet it will be in that beautiful land, So free from all sorrow and pain, with songs on our lips and freedom on our hands we shall meet one another again.
